Counselling and psychotherapy for individuals, couples and groups.

Specialities

My main theoretical approach is Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Integrative

The way that I work draws on various approaches and works in accordance to your needs, leading towards a greater understanding of the self and how to better enjoy your life and relationships.

In short term counselling we can focus on managing your problem in the here-and-now without the need to explore your past in more detail.

In long term psychotherapy (open-ended contract) we will be able to do more explorative work, which will entail revisiting your past in order to make sense of the present and to gain a deeper understanding of your life experiences.

There are times in life when we don't feel particularly happy or settled and this can cause problems in the way we experience personal and professional relationships.

In therapy we can work through some of these feelings and understand better what is making us feel this way and why. Talking to me in total confidence can help you voice worries, fears or maybe explore anger about something or someone.

My style is not to just sit with you and listen with an impassive expression on my face. Working through some unresolved issues in therapy is serious work, but there is still time for a smile and the occasional laughter too.

Areas of work that I can help you with:

Anger, Anxiety, Ageing, Bereavement, Cancer, Conflict, Divorce, Depression, LGBT issues, Gender, Grief, HIV, Identity, Loss, Loss of meaning in life, Marriage and Relationships problems, Men's issues, Personal development, Panic attacks, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Sexuality, Stress, Separation and divorce, Self-confidence, Symptoms, Illness, Trauma.

Sessions

Sessions are usually once a week and last 50 minutes. We will agree on the time and day in our first session. If you are late to a session we will still finish at the end of the arranged 50 minutes, this is because a client might be starting right after.

Cancellations

If you are unable to attend your session, we can try and re-schedule it to another day in the same week. If that is not possible the fee is still payable in full.

EMDR sessions last 90 minutes and need to be agreed prior to commencing.

Confidentiality

Everything that is discussed within the therapy sessions remains confidential except where life or safety are seriously threatened or where required by law.

Fees from £70 to £100 for individuals and £100 to £120 for couples

It's good to talk!

The first step in therapy is talking. Let's find a time where we can meet and talk about what's on your mind.
